Dusting off my little hack from last year, I cranked it up again to see what my Top (listened) to Albums of 2012 have been. Basically it looks at my Last.fm listening history and bounces it off the Musicbrainz database to get (a more accurate) release year, and then lists them by order of most listens (aggregated across all tracks on the album) to give me the list.
Obviously, this doesn't account for what I thought were the *best* albums of the year (some of the below I didn't really care for, but I gave them multiple shots to impress)... and it punishes albums that were released later in the year (for example the Now, Now album I just discovered this week and it's already making it's way up the list). All that being said, blind math is easier than editorial consideration... so this list is it.
Note: click through any album title to get a multi-source (e.g. Spotify, SoundCloud, YouTube, Deezer, Rdio, etc.) playable track listing courtesy of Toma.hk.
UPDATE: I found a bug in my hack that was omitting some albums and have now updated the list.
